About Granger Plastics Company
Granger Plastics Company was founded in September 1994, by rotomolding veteran, John Grimes. His father, John Grimes Sr. was noted as one of the original architects of the rotomolding industry back in the 1950’s.
Upon starting the rotational molding company in Sharonville, Ohio in 1994, the company quickly experienced large growth for custom rotationally molded products inside of its first 2 years. In 1996, the company required additional manufacturing space, so Grimes and his business partner chose another Cincinnati-Dayton area suburb of Middletown, OH.
In 1998, Grimes and his business partner decided they needed additional expertise for new found opportunities, so they brought in another partner. Jim Cravens, a former co-worker from John’s rotomolding history would join the Granger Plastics team. Jim would be an integral part of Granger’s continuing growth, taking the company to new levels and providing new innovative solutions for a plethora of new rotomolding customers.
Granger Plastics Company continued to grow, developing a number of rotationally molded plastic solutions for a number of OEMs and internationally recognized industry leaders. In 2002, Grimes would decide to retire, selling his stake in the company to Jim Cravens and Grimes’ business partner, Jack Cobb, a well-known entrepreneur who was active in owning a number of wildly successful businesses and developments throughout the World, including one of the World’s largest privately owned restaurant equipment manufacturing companies.
Since 2002, Granger Plastics Company has developed many industry leading innovations in rotational molding and continues to grow under the guidance of Jim. A Mechanical Engineer by education and trade, Jim has over 25 years of experience in metal fabrications. Much of his experience was gained during his tenure of engineering & designing, research, development and manufacturing in the commercial mower industry. He also brings nearly 25 years of rotational molding experience to complement his vast knowledge of metals and metal fabrications. Being a student of the W. Edwards Deming methods, Jim operates a quality and productivity based operation. It is his ability as one of the leading part design engineers in the world that keeps Granger Plastics out in front as one of the leading companies in rotational molding engineering innovations.
Under the direction of Jim Cravens, Granger has grown and expanded its offerings in a number of directions to include Granger Aerospace Products, ForeverSafe Products, the Sandsaver Natural Solution to Beach Erosion and the Granger ISS, America’s leading underground tornado shelter. While being a mechanical engineer by education and trade, Cravens holds a number of patents of his own, while continuing to develop a number of products and solutions for various OEMs and manufacturers.
With over 25 years of proven rotational molding success, Granger Plastics Company continues on its quest for high-quality rotational molding production, with a never quit attitude along with some aggressive risk taking to allow us to consistently think outside the norm to satisfy the ever-changing needs of our customers and ourselves.
